In Sweden and also Finland, the procurement and installation of a flagpole are approached with patriotic seriousness. People generally want to purchase a flagpole from a traditional supplier, usually the nearest hardware store. In Sweden or Finland, fiber-reinforced plastic flagpoles are traditionally used. The downside to these is their high cost and the difficulty of installation.

The flag can be disposed of by burning it or cutting it into small pieces and discarding the pieces in several batches along with regular household waste. The most important thing is that the person getting rid of the old flag must do their best to ensure that the shredded flag can no longer be reassembled. The flag must not be buried in the ground or at sea.
